I’m pleased to announce that President Obama issued a proclamation declaring September,2011 to be National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Awareness for pediatric cancer is increasing, as President Obama states, “Across America, thousands of courageous children fight pediatric cancer each year, facing life-threatening battles that would challenge men and women of any age.”
In celebration of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Pediatric Cancer Caucus will host the Second Annual Congressional Childhood Cancer Summit. I have been invited to speak on the need to create incentives for pharmaceutical companies to develop drugs for children with cancer and other rare diseases, including the legislation Kids v Cancer is championing — the Creating Hope Act. Please join us on Friday, September 23rd at 9:00 am in the Capitol Visitor’s Center Auditorium. I would love to see you there. For information on the Creating Hope Act, please see my blog in the Huffington Post.
For more information on the Creating Hope Act and more information on what Kids v Cancer has been doing, please visit our new website: www.kidsvcancer.org.
I’ll be in touch soon with more news — including an update on other Kids v Cancer programs and thoughts on what would have been Jacob’s bar mitzvah year.
Thank you for your support and friendship. May this be a year of better health
for all children.
Sincerely,
Nancy Goodman
